Cold and Sinus Infections

Cold and sinus infections are very common among children and adults. Common cold infections could develop into sinusitis which is commonly called a sinus infection. Nevertheless, this isn’t the only cause for people developing sinus infections.

A common cold is caused because of a virus that enters the body via the air that is inhaled. When an infected patient sneezes, this virus is released into the air. If another person breathes this infected air, he/she becomes susceptible to infection.

In case someone touches anything which is infected by the flu virus and touches their eyes, nose or mouth with that same hand, there is a chance that this person will get infected by this virus. Common cold infections last for approximately 5 to 6 days. At times, this infection could worsen and then gradually subside.

Sinusitis is also caused because of a virus. But, it is not only the virus which causes sinusitis. Sometimes, bacteria could also lead to a sinus infection.

Some of the other factors that cause sinus infections comprise of allergies, fungal infections, pollutants, structural complications within the nasal cavity and a weak immune system.

Advil cold and sinus is a commonly prescribed drug to treat common colds and sinusitis.

Several people associate sinus pressure with increased mucus secretions which in turn block the air passage. It is true that an increase in mucus is amongst the main signs of common cold infections; however it is not the reason which causes the feeling of congestion. Sinus congestion may be associated with the swelling of tissues throughout the sinuses.

Due to this congestion the air passage shrinks. Advil Cold and Sinus medication is a combination of a potent decongestant that will open the airways or air passage combined with the power of Advil that relieves pain that is associated with sinus.
